Are you a progressive rabbinical student, rabbi or other Jewish professional? I'm an experienced editor, journalist and tutor here to help you with writing sermons, essays and academic pieces. I have had the pleasure of working with students from middle school through graduate school, and I've also had the honor of editing well-known journalists and authors. I love helping people strengthen their writing skills and achieve their writing goals. And I have just the right background professionally and Jewishly to help you write for your Jewish communities.
I’m kind, patient, and rigorous, while I bring out the best in you as a writer. Together we can brainstorm ideas for writing tasks and projects, structure and edit your drafts and create a piece of writing that truly reflects your unique voice.
When it comes to helping you craft sermons, I can also help you write for spoken delivery. I have Master's degrees in English literature and in poetry writing, and, as a producer at WGBH and elsewhere, I have written and edited numerous video and audio scripts.
In Jewish settings, I have coached b’mitzvah students for their divrei torah; edited grad student papers and applications; edited the scholarly work of writers for POLIN: Studies in Polish Jewry; collaborated with other writers, editors and translators on the Havurat Shalom Siddur Project; and written and edited press releases for IfNotNow Boston.
I grew up in an observant family and attended Shechter day school and Conservative synagogues. I was involved with my family in the early days of the Havurah and Renewal movements, while also spending time in modern Orthodox settings with my grandparents and cousins. I was a member of Havurat Shalom for over 25 years, and now I’m part of Nehar Shalom. My politics are antizionist, antiracist, pro feminist and pro queer and trans liberation.
I’m not an expert in rabbinic literature or literary and academic Hebrew, but I have strong synagogue skills, years of b’mitzvah tutoring experience and a lifetime of exposure to Jewish thought and discourse. I’m one of the knowledgeable and engaged community members you want to address. I can help you craft sermons, essays, and papers that will reach me and others in your Jewish communities.
